One compact excavator with the right attachments can replace three single-purpose machines. A breaker turns it into a demolition tool, an auger makes it a post-hole and planting machine, a grapple lets it handle logs and debris, and a quick coupler lets the operator switch between all of them in under a minute. This page explains what we supply and how to specify it correctly.
The case for attachments is straightforward economics. Buying a second machine to do post holes or handle timber costs far more than buying an auger or a grapple, and it also costs more to maintain, insure and transport. For contractors and rental yards, attachments are the fastest way to increase the number of jobs a single excavator can earn money on.
The caveat is that attachments must be matched to the machine at specification stage. A breaker that is too large for the carrier will damage the hydraulic system; one that is too small will not break the material. Flow, pressure and mounting all need to line up, which is why we recommend ordering attachments together with the machine rather than afterwards.
The table below lists the attachments we supply most often, what they are used for and which machine sizes suit them. Availability of individual items varies by market and is confirmed on the quotation.
| Attachment | Typical Use | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Hydraulic breaker / hammer | Concrete, asphalt and light rock breaking, demolition | 1.8 ton and above |
| Earth auger | Post holes, planting, foundation piles, soil sampling | 1 ton and above |
| Grapple / grab | Logs, scrub, demolition debris, scrap handling | 1.8 ton and above |
| Hydraulic thumb | Gripping rocks, timber and debris with the bucket | 1 ton and above |
| Quick coupler | Fast bucket and attachment changes from the cab | All models |
| Trenching bucket (200-400 mm) | Drainage, cables, pipe and irrigation trenches | All models |
| General-purpose bucket | Bulk excavation and material handling | All models |
| Ripper | Breaking compacted ground, roots and thin hard layers | 1.8 ton and above |
| Dozer blade | Backfilling, levelling and light grading | Select models |
| Mechanical / hydraulic grapple rake | Land clearance and vegetation management | 2.5 ton and above |
Bucket choice matters more than any other accessory. A narrow 200 to 300 mm trenching bucket cuts clean, narrow trenches and is gentle on existing services. A 400 to 500 mm bucket is the general-purpose compromise. A wide cleaning or grading bucket moves spoil quickly and leaves a tidy finish. Most contractors end up with two or three buckets and one other attachment.
Breakers are the most requested attachment in this class. They are used for breaking concrete slabs, removing footings and kerbs, demolishing small structures and splitting light rock. The important specification points are impact energy, operating weight and required oil flow - all three must suit the carrier machine.
Because breaker work is hard on hydraulics, we recommend buyers specify a machine with a properly sized auxiliary circuit, a return-line filter where appropriate and a slightly upgraded cooling package. Doing this at the factory costs a fraction of repairing an overloaded system later.
Earth augers convert an excavator into an efficient drilling machine for fence posts, tree planting, sign posts and small piles. They are popular with fencing contractors, landscapers, farms and municipalities because a single operator can drill dozens of holes in a day where manual digging would take a week.
Grapples and hydraulic thumbs are about handling rather than digging. A thumb lets the operator pick up rocks, logs and demolition debris with the bucket itself, which is invaluable on clearance work. A dedicated grapple handles longer material such as timber, scrub and scrap, and pairs well with land clearance and recycling work.
When you enquire, tell us the model, the jobs you intend to do and the ground conditions you expect. We will recommend an attachment package rather than a catalogue dump, confirm that flow and pressure match, and quote everything - machine, attachments and spares - in one shipment so nothing is held up waiting for a second delivery.
Attachments are packed for sea transport and, where possible, shipped inside or alongside the machine to keep freight costs down. Spare teeth, hoses and filters for your most-used attachment are worth adding to the order at the outset, since they cost far less at factory prices than as urgent airfreight later.
Yes. A correctly sized breaker works well on a 1.8 ton and larger machine provided the excavator is ordered with a suitable auxiliary hydraulic circuit. On very small 1 ton machines, breaker capacity is limited, so we usually recommend a hammer matched specifically to that machine's flow rate.
It depends on the job. Rubber tracks are better for breaker work on paved surfaces and for augers on finished ground, while steel tracks suit rough, abrasive sites where grip and wear life matter more than surface protection. We can supply either on most models.
A thumb is mounted on the machine's own bucket and turns it into a grabbing tool for rocks, logs and debris, which makes it a flexible everyday attachment. A dedicated grapple is a separate unit on the end of the arm, better suited to continuous handling work such as timber or scrap.
Match the bucket to the trench, not the machine. Drainage and cable runs usually suit a 300 mm trenching bucket; general excavation works well with a 400 to 500 mm bucket; grading and cleaning want a wider bucket. Most buyers take two or three sizes and swap with a quick coupler.
Yes, in the same shipment wherever practical, and packed for sea transport. Shipping attachments with the machine avoids a second freight cost and means your machine is productive from the day it lands rather than waiting for accessories to follow.
We supply attachments matched to our machines from qualified manufacturers and, where applicable, from our own production. Every item is specified to the machine's hydraulics and mounting, and compatibility is confirmed on the quotation before you order.
Tell us your machine, quantity and destination port and our export team will send firm pricing, a container loading plan and lead time, normally within one working day.
